Triangle (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu)

A triangle is a choke that uses the legs to trap the head and one arm, cutting off blood flow and forcing a tap.

Beginner Translation

Your legs become the lock. When the angle is right, the person on top has to tap or escape fast.

What It Does

The triangle turns guard into a direct submission threat and often chains naturally with armbars and sweeps.

Where You See It

You see it from closed guard, open guard setups, and partner drills focused on angles instead of squeezing.

Why It Matters

It shows beginners how powerful leg positioning can be and why small angle changes matter more than brute force.
