September transition: Friday, Sept. 4 runs the regular Youth Gi at 5:00 PM and Adult Gi at 6:00 PM. Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7, runs Youth/Teen No-Gi Games at 5:00 PM and Adult No-Gi Open Mat at 6:00 PM. Placement Week begins Sept. 8; the Fall Practice Schedule begins Sept. 14.

This is a special New Year's Eve open mat event for adult students who want to finish the year on the mats.

Format & Registration:

  • 26 rounds, 6 minutes each at 12:00 PM noon
  • Open mat / rolling format
  • Minimum commitment: Confirmed only if eight adults register by December 24
  • Bring water, extra gear, and a good attitude

Note: We pause regular kids small-group classes for the holiday break. This event runs only with eight adult registrations by December 24.

Special Holiday Classes

When we open during a holiday break, classes are short, structured, capped, and run only when reservation minimums are met.

Reservable Holiday Sessions:

  • Youth Turkey Roll: Friday, November 27 at 5:00 PM (Youth-only class. Runs with 6 reservations by Nov 23)
  • Family Holiday No-Gi: Wednesday, December 30 at 5:00 PM (Youth/family session. Runs with 4 reservations)
  • Conditional 26 for 26: Thursday, December 31 at 12:00 PM (Adult open mat. Confirmed with 8 adult registrations by Dec 24)

All holiday specials require advance sign-up. Sandy confirms each special by text.

How we notify families

We post holiday updates on this page, the regular schedule page, email or SMS reminders, and social media.

For major holiday weeks, schedule changes are usually announced at least two weeks ahead.

Are regular small-group classes held on major holidays?

School holidays do not automatically close the academy. Planned exceptions and weather or road conditions are posted here; Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day are closed.

Are there kids classes during school breaks?

Sometimes. When families want a structured activity during a break, we may offer short kids sessions or holiday camps.

Do I need to sign up ahead of time?

Yes. Holiday classes and camps require advance sign-up so we can plan staffing, small-group class size, and safety.

What happens if Sandy cancels a paid holiday class?

If Sensei Sandy BJJ cancels a paid holiday special, families receive a credit or refund.
