Guillotine (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu)

A guillotine is a choke applied around the neck, usually when an opponent’s head is lowered or exposed.

Beginner Translation

If someone leaves their head out of position, you can wrap the neck, control the body, and make them tap.

What It Does

The guillotine punishes poor posture, rushed shots, and sloppy scrambles by turning head control into a submission.

Where You See It

You see it during front headlock drills, takedown entries, and scrambles where posture breaks down.

Why It Matters

It teaches beginners how head position affects safety and why strong posture matters even before advanced technique does.
