Frequently Asked Questions

Is my first class going to be a fight?
No. Your class is coached situation by situation. You will start with a room tour, learn our basic safety rules, and try skill-based activities under close personal guidance. Skill-based resistance activities begin at the right pace from day one.
What should I wear or bring?
Wear comfortable workout clothes (t-shirt and sweatpants or shorts). Bring a water bottle. We train barefoot on sanitized mats, so no special footwear is needed.
Do I need to be in shape before I start?
No. Jiu-Jitsu is how you get in shape. You can take breaks whenever you need them, and you will progress at a pace that feels comfortable and sustainable for you.
Can I reschedule if my plans change?
Text Sandy at +1 (917) 736-8649 and we will look for another day and time. Youth requests include one complimentary change; a second missed appointment needs manual review.

"A welcoming community with no big egos. That's rare in any martial art." — Adam M.

Core Culture Schedule & Rescheduling

Each standard enrollment includes three planned classes per week (up to 36 scheduled classes over 12 weeks). Students select three recurring home-class reservations to keep training consistent and manage room capacity.

If your availability changes during a week, we offer open-seat rescheduling by text. Rescheduling depends on space and partner fit in that session. Text Sandy directly to check open seats.
