Why the Drive from Maplecrest Works

A 15-minute drive south across the mountaintop to our four-season studio.

Maplecrest sits quietly tucked in the valley near Windham, but finding a highly structured, calm athletic space often means taking the short drive south. For local families, the 15-minute drive connects you to a consistent routine. One local parent uses the drive back north as a dedicated time to talk with their teenager after class.

Weather & Arrival: During winter storms, we know the drive up from the Maplecrest valleys requires attention. We keep an eye on the weather and send text updates by 2:00 PM for evening classes so you can safely plan your trip. When you arrive in Tannersville, you can usually find parking right on Main Street or in the municipal lot behind the theater. Walk up the wooden stairs to the second floor—you’ll see the mats right away.

A Weekly Anchor

"The short drive gives our teenager a highly structured, calm athletic program away from the quieter valleys. The 15-minute drive back home together is one of the best parts of my week."

Local Route Context

Part of the same local rhythm as school, work, trails, skiing, golf, and family life.

Sensei Sandy BJJ sits above Main Street in a village already shaped by local investment, walkability, small business, arts, and outdoor recreation. The Hunter Foundation has helped restore commercial buildings and homes across the mountaintop, while Tannersville’s Downtown Revitalization work points toward a stronger four-season village center.

This page makes BJJ feel like the missing weekly indoor anchor: calm training after school, before work, after work, or between mountain-town weekends.
