Private BJJ Lessons: Bring One Goal
By Sandy · Updated
Two goals come up in my private BJJ lessons: build a better guard and learn to pass the guard.
Guard is a way to use your legs to manage space and work with a partner. Passing means working past those legs toward control. We start by talking about what those words mean to you.
For private Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coaching near Tannersville, bring a question from your own training. You can also tell me you want help finding a place to start.
Tell me what you want to learn
You might want help with a spot where you get stuck. You may have a goal but feel unsure which skill to work on.
We talk through it. I ask how you see the task and what you have tried. Your answer helps me choose the next part of our work.
I want to know how you think about BJJ. That gives us a shared place to begin.
Put the goal into practice
We use movement to explore your question. You get time to try, ask for feedback, and try again.
I also offer movement patterns that support your goal. We can discuss ways to keep working on those skills after the lesson.
The next step should make sense to you. You can ask me to explain a term or show how it fits the task.
Choose a useful way to train
Private coaching may suit you if you have a tight schedule. It may also suit you if you want time for focused feedback.
Some students bring questions from group class. Others want to work through a goal at their own pace. Tell me which kind of help you seek.
I use narrated video recaps to talk through training. You can ask about how those recaps fit your lesson. See the private coaching page for service details. If you train here, you can also read who fits the Adult Private Coaching Intensive.
