Josh Griffiths
Joshua Griffiths (born April 25, 1980 in California) is a 4th degree BJJ black belt under former UFC fighter Kenny Florian and the main instructor of Clockwork Jiu-Jitsu Academy in NYC. Lineage: Carlos Gracie > Hélio Gracie > Carlos Gracie Jr > Roberto Maia > Kenny Florian > Josh Griffiths. Josh began training in 2001 after attending UFC 32 while studying engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology, starting at Fabio Clemente's Alliance academy at Studio-X and training extensively with Marcelo Garcia. He won the 2007 Pan American Championship (brown belt) and was awarded his black belt in December 2007 by Kenny Florian before founding Clockwork Jiu-Jitsu. Competing in the Meio Pesado (88kg/194lbs) division, his main achievements include 2007 Pan American Champion (brown), 2010 & 2011 World Pro Cup Trials Champion, and multiple Copa Atlantica titles. Favorite technique: Cross Choke. Scored a perfect score on the math SAT. Advice for beginners: “Start and don't stop.”
