Three stories from the coach

Sandy shared these accounts of his students. We use them with names left out. They show what happened to these children. Each child has their own path.

A friend on the practice mat

Sandy shared a story about a shy student. The child was 12 and felt social fear. At a Jiu-Jitsu meet, he met a new friend. That child was also 12. He trained at a different gym.

They met on the practice mat. They made friends face to face, eye to eye. Sandy shared this as one child's story.

A challenge from a peer

Sandy also told us about a student. A child from another school challenged him. The student used his skills to defend himself. He kept the other child safe from harm.

These are the facts Sandy shared. We keep the children's names private.

A ball thrown at a child's face

A third child had faced years of bullying. The same peer had picked on him. This began before the child took Jiu-Jitsu.

The peer threw a basketball at his face. The student took the peer's feet off the floor. He held him with a knee on his chest. He kept frames on both sides of the peer's body. Sandy said the student felt safe and sure.

This is one reported event. A chest pin puts pressure on the body. Learn mat skills with a coach. A child facing a threat needs adult help.
