Maintaining Mat Momentum Through Winter

Winter in the Catskills brings snowy mountain beauty, but it can also make staying physically active more challenging. Regular jiu-jitsu training gives kids, teens, and adults a warm, cheerful, and welcoming indoor routine throughout the coldest months.

Training two to three times each week preserves mobility, builds joint stability, and keeps your balance sharp. When spring arrives, consistent students find their cardio and movement intuition already in peak shape.

Winter Mat Care & Prep Tips

Warm Up Your Muscles

Arrive a few minutes early to change into your uniform and let your joints adjust to the heated room before drilling begins.

Hydration in Cold Weather

Indoor heating can dry out the body. Drink plenty of water throughout the day so your muscles stay supple during rolls.
